Darryl Nevels: UW-REN team; President UWB/CCC Sustainability Organization; founding Board Member Friends of North Creek Forest
THIS SATURDAY students from the University of Washington would like to show you their winter's work and have you join them in ongoing site preparation and planting. Native vegetation being planted include Oregon grape, salal, sword fern, noble fir, Douglas fir and vine maple. Later plants like Indian plumb will be propagated from specimens already in the forest. There is still some digging out of roots and stripping out of blackberries if you are inclined. But there will be a lot of planting going on too. If you don't want to get dirty bring the students snacks and coffee! WIN A GIFT certificate of $25 to either the Audubon Store of Piper Nursery for the best photograph of this event. The winning photograph will be featured in our next article and others might get published in later articles. Click, email and maybe get famous!
All you need are boots and weather appropriate clothing. Tools and gloves are provided.
