This year, we have had the tremendous pleasure of regular visits from 5th and 7th graders from the Soundview School in Lynnwood. After many months of working in the cold and wet, it was lovely to have a warm sunny day for our final Soundview visit and we welcomed the opportunity to work in the shade. We spent much of our time removing invasive weeds from a nurse log just off the trail. Not only will this nurse log provide habitat for many animals that live in the Forest, it will serve as a valuable teaching tool for our developing outdoor classroom. When they weren't helping enhance the habitat itself, our students were learning about what the animals living in and around the Forest need for a healthy habitat. After a hearty lunch, each student received a certificate acknowledging their service and recognizing the hours they have contributed over the course of the year. The grand total was over 400 hours of forest stewardship! Thank you Soundview!
